Setting Posts 1st with FPP Posts

•    By utilizing structural, heat-treated, aluminum alloys that are all extruded and produced in the USA, Ultra can provide tall security fences up to 10' (or more).
•    By having the capacity to punch Full Profile holes into those structural posts, it allows for the full insertion of the complete rail profile into the post at every post-to-rail intersection. Other companies have either a smaller hole calling for clipped or reduced rail ends that minimize strength and cause errors. Or the worst case scenario, at least for the fence professional, is the use of brackets or other fittings that slowdown the installation.
•    Lastly, by having the posts set deep in concrete, they can be left alone until concrete cures and the panels can be inserted later. With completely cured concrete, it is Ultra Easy to secure the panels in later without the typical risk associated with post-panel-post style installation which is most common in ornamental fence installation. This process renders a stronger, better looking installation that is actually more cost effective for the experienced Ultra Dealer.

  Have you ever been tempted to use a "cheap import" ornamental aluminum fence?

  Many fence professionals are doing anything and everything to try to survive these trying times, many even resort to using a light-weight product, one of dubious origins. There are companies out there that compete with Ultra by having a real light-weight product that is marketed with really slick, professional marketing pieces like brochures. Some of them sell aluminum and vinyl, others sell steel and aluminum, and some of them have done a GREAT job marketing their products. But it seems they spend more money on the sizzle than on the steak.

   But does going or selling "cheap" really pay-off? I think NOT.

  Case in point: With this truly "screw-less" panel, the pickets can not be removed and re-oriented and then re-installed. The crew did not notice this error until all the panels were installed, with posts set in concrete. This would cost the dealer 4-6 weeks of NOT being able to collect, then it will cost them the administration fees of re-ordering the panels (the headache of dealing with an RMA when the product cannot be returned right away) and then they get to pay a crew, pay for the gas, the mileage and all that goes along with removing four posts to install two more panels. This whole fiasco could and likely will cost the dealer more than 10 times the money they might have saved by selling a cheap Chinese product.
   Now think about the ding to the dealer's reputation, the added frustration and what do you have? You have a situation that ultimately would have been Ultra Easy to avoid. Bet you they sell only Ultra from now on.

  And lastly, even IF this competitor had NOT dropped the ball on quality control...the customer would still have ended up with a light-weight fence that under performs in every arena, strength, durability of finish and overall aesthetics. Build EACH job like your reputation hinges upon it, because in reality...IT DOES!!!

Why Aluminum is better than Steel

  It is appropriate to remember that most things in life have positive attributes mixed with limitations. Someone once told me that everything in life is a compromise, you choose what fits your needs by trading off something else. With ornamental fencing and gates it has usually meant that for gaining strength, a customer was willing to trade-off having to perform or pay for additional maintenance somewhere down the road. Incredible Tri-Slide Ultrack/V-Track Hybrid Gate at Bogle Vineyards

I just wanted to share some photos of a unique job that was recently installed in N. California. Bogle Vineyards is one of the largest wineries in the US and they had a need for a gate that would close off a 45ft opening, but collapse into a very small footprint. A contractor who specializes in high-speed V-Track/Cantilever “Hybrids” chose Ultra to do the work and flew up to Howell to help oversee the fabrication. David was instrumental in getting the job off the ground. Russ worked with the contractor, providing a lot of engineering suggestions and came up with a solution for the 2-tone paint scheme. Ron worked his butt off welding this monster and dealing with a contractor looking over his shoulder. In short…it was a great team effort and the results speak for themselves. The gate was installed without a hitch, the customer is thrilled, Ultra made some money and I got just a little grayer. Great job to all involved!

  Let me first say that I have been away from blogging for entirely too long.
